Plymouth Nature Film Festival is an ongoing project to share stories of people and nature, through amateur filmmaking and photography. This shared storytelling enables a collaborative exploration of our relationship with nature.
Change is at the heart of all things. It is found in the deep interplay between separate elements, driving the evolution of patterns and relationships, and resulting in the rich expression of life.
Our relationship with nature is a dynamic composition of changing interactions, laid out through time. When considering this relationship, it is helpful to understand where we are now within the context of where we have come from. Through tracing this unfolding, we are able to view the bigger picture, and to place ourselves within it, both as individuals and as a collective.
The way we navigate change speaks to our relationship with the world around us, and with the ecological networks which we are a part of. Do we embrace change through adaptation, or do we resist change through control? Exploration of this relationship provides an opportunity to redefine our interaction with change, and in doing so recast our role in the wider unfolding of life.
We are inviting you to explore our changing relationship with nature, through the medium of filmmaking or photography. The topic of change is open, and can be interpreted in many ways, so the invitation is one of individual exploration and expression. With both film and photography, there is an act of storytelling; an opportunity to build narrative and meaning. As with all stories, this task is not about reaching a destination, but rather embarking on a journey. Happy trails traveler.
